Instructions on how to download & install your selected screen saver

For explanatory purposes we’re describing the installation of the Derbyshire ScreenSaver. So where the word ‘Derbyshire’ appears as a file name - that will change depending upon your chosen ScreenSaver.

  1. Read : Conditions of Use (Condition No.5.)
  2. From the previous page - click the download link (or floppy disc image) of the screen saver you would like to install.
  3. Imediately a pop-up message/box will appear and ask - ‘Would you like to open the file or save it to your computer’? You should click the ‘Save’ button & then locate your ‘Desktop’ or other suitable destination & then click ‘Save’ & the download will begin.
  4. Once the download is complete click ‘Close’ & then you need to locate the ‘derbyshire.exe’ file which you have just downloaded to your desktop (or elsewhere).
  5. Click the downloaded .exe file & open the installer. A box will pop-up & you need to click ‘Install’. Once installation is complete (takes only a few seconds) you will see the ‘Display Properties’ box appear & under the ‘Screen Saver’ selection heading, you will see a drop-down menu & the word ‘Derbyshire’ should be visible.
  6. From the ‘Display Properties’ box you can preview the screen saver (if you want to) ... once you’ve finished, click the ‘OK’ button - which will close down the ‘Display Properties’ box.
  7. The original ‘derbyshire.exe’ file can now be deleted from your desktop - or if you’d prefer, you could save a single copy of the file to CD-R (for personal use only), in case you ever need to install it again.
  8. If you decide you would like to uninstall the file at a later date, you just need to locate the .scr file - for example ‘derbyshire.scr’. You can locate the file by going to the main Start Menu of Windows. Go to: Start > Search > For Files or Folders - then type in ‘derbyshire.scr’, once located, right click the file & delete it.
  9. PLEASE NOTE - If for some unknown reason the screensaver fails to install properly on your system or once installed it fails to run correctly - Please be aware that we are unable to give you a specifc diagnosis as to why it will not work on your system. If installation fails we suggest you delete the downloaded files from your computer & restore your screensaver to its original settings - which can be found in: > My Computer > Control Panel > Display > Screensaver Tab
