The idea of “Photo-Ark” was conceived in September 2002 & came about after we discovered many family photos that we had no knowledge of. We did not know the people in them, or even the places shown... therefore the information that was once known had been lost forever. We are sure everyone has photos such as these and it’s such a shame that so many pictures become useless & unimportant. So before it gets too late... we decided to provide an online archive of old images for people to see and contribute to ... & also to protect the stories and information contained within in them for future generations.

Currently we are accepting old photographs (pre-1950) & old postcards (pre-1934) for the counties of Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Yorkshire & Lancashire, plus War & Regimental images too. Images for other counties, or subjects, can be submitted however ... and will be temporarily added to the ‘Miscellaneous’ index.
